About Asplenium Fern (Crispy Wave)
One of our most beloved plants is the Asplenium Fern which is sometimes also known as the Bird’s Nest Fern or Nest Fern. We like to just call it the Crispy Wave. This hardy variety of fern is among some of the oldest living plants on this planet with nearly 15,000 varieties in existence. This fern’s flat and crinkly fronds get their characteristic crispy look by the amount of light that the plant receives. Place in lowlight areas to brighten up your home or office. Ferns are native to more subtropical rainforest areas, but the Asplenium Fern requires less humidity and the perfect option for those with busy lifestyles.
Prepotted in a 4” nursery pot.
Warmth and moisture. The Asplenium Fern likes filtered light and light shade. Loose soil such as organic compost or peat-based potting mix is best. Enjoys some humidity so mist lightly regularly.
Doesn’t enjoy direct sunlight. Avoid watering the plant directly and water the soil around the plant instead.
Asplenium Fern has been known to help purify the air and absorb harmful gasses such as formaldehyde and nicotine through its beautiful fronds.
LOOKING AFTER THE PLANT
For the Asplenium Fern to thrive you should keep it out of direct sunlight but not in a gloomy corner. It’s ok for the soil to dry out occasionally but the soil can be kept “just moist” year-round.
PLANT CARE WITH PETS AND CHILDREN
The Asplenium Fern isn’t toxic to children, cats, or dogs.
