Tri Colour Polka Dot Plant
ABOUT TRI COLOUR POLKA DOT PLANTS
The Tri Colour Polka Dot Plant, or Hypoestes Phyllostachys, is a strikingly beautiful plant with large leaves in a wide range of eye-catching colors. These leaves can be red, pink, or white and are marked with splashes of dark green, creating a wonderful contrast. This plant generally grows as a low mound of foliage and looks great on its own but can also be matched with other exciting plants like Calathea. This plant is a great choice for fans of unique pots and people who want something different than the standard plant-green color.
Our Tri Color Polka Dot Plants come in a 3.5” grower pot.
Our Tri Color Polka Dot Plants come in a 4” grower pot.
This plant enjoys bright light and can withstand direct sunlight for short periods during the day when kept indoors. The Polka Dot Plant will be okay in darker areas, but this will cause it to grow longer stems, and lose its attractive bushy character. You can also keep this plant outdoors, but it will need a shadier spot and does well in garden beds, borders, and containers.
These freckled plants are pretty easy to keep happy and don’t have too many dislikes. They share the same common dislikes as other houseplants. Be sure not to water so often that the soil stays soggy, and inspect your plant regularly for disease or pests.
LOOKING AFTER THE PLANT
The Polka Dot Plant will need you to maintain a moist, but not soggy soil. If you do forget to water for a few days, the plant will wilt but can likely be revived with regular watering. To continue healthy growth, you’ll need to provide indoor plant fertilizer once a month during the growing season. Pinching off flowers when they appear can help encourage more leafy growth, and will discourage overly lengthy stems.
PLANT CARE WITH PETS AND CHILDREN
Tri Colour Polka Dot Plants are considered non-toxic to humans and pets but if a large amount is consumed, vomiting or diarrhea may occur.
