Convinced yet? Stick around and have a browse. PlantX’s wonderful array of mineral water, all with different compositions of lifes’ essential nutrients, has you covered. Nourish and hydrate your body at the exact time - it’s two for the price of one!

What is Mineral Water?

Mineral Water is water that comes from mineral springs. As the name suggests, mineral water is rich in minerals. The specific combination of minerals depends on the source that mineral water is collected from, but usually, it includes magnesium, calcium, sodium, sulfate, chloride, bicarbonate, and fluoride.

Water must have 250 minerals per mineral solid to be considered mineral water. (This means you can be sure any mineral water sold at PlantX is packed with different minerals!) The source should also be guaranteed to be protected from pollution and named on the bottle. Not all mineral water is the same, the source will affect what minerals the water contains, the health benefits of the water, and how it tastes.

What’s the difference between Mineral Water and Spring Water?

With so many varieties of water available it can be hard to keep up. We understand. So what is the difference between mineral water and other water that comes from underground springs and reservoirs?

Water that also comes from an underground source, but is not as rich in minerals is called spring water. Mineral water must have 250 minerals per mineral solids. Spring water is a very popular variety of water but does not have the added benefits that the minerals in mineral water provide.

Apart from the composition, the key difference between the two is taste. The additional minerals in mineral water mean it tastes a little different from spring water. Some say it is more ‘earthy’, others call it a more ‘hard’ flavor. The best way to know? Try for yourself …

Is Mineral Water natural?

Yes, mineral water is 100% natural. Mineral Water must come from a natural underground reservoir or spring and cannot be chemically treated under any circumstances. However, in certain cases, mineral water may go through some processing. For example, this could be to remove carbon dioxide gas or toxic substances, such as arsenic.

How is Mineral Water made?

In the past, mineral water was simply consumed at the source. People would drink the water straight from spas, baths, or wells, and this was known as ‘taking the waters’ or ‘taking the cure’.

However, nowadays, it is far more likely for mineral water to be bottled at the source, ready to be sold on our shelves (or here at PlantX). This is why there is such a variation of how mineral water can feel or taste, as it is all dependent on the natural source it was bottled from. So, there you have it, the secret behind the magic - humans do the bottling up, but the rest of the work is done by, yours truly, Mother Nature!

How much Mineral Water should I drink a day?

It is recommended that you drink 6 - 8 glasses of water per day. However, as the mineral content in mineral water changes depending on the source, there is no single answer of how much mineral water you should drink daily. However, there are guidelines about the number of different nutrients you should consume. For example calcium and magnesium (two of the most common nutrients in mineral water). Our advice? Once you have chosen the mineral water that is right for you, take a look at its composition - and go from there!

Health Benefits of Mineral Water

So, the big question - why choose mineral water? With so many variations of water available (hydrogen water, caffeinated water, coconut water - you name it!), why is mineral water so special? Well, lucky for you, here at PlantX we have collated the top four health benefits of mineral water so you can see what all the fuss is about!

1. Mineral water is a source of magnesium. Magnesium is an essential nutrient that helps to regulate blood pressure, glucose levels, and nerve function. The amount of magnesium in your mineral water will depend on the source your water was collected at.

2. Mineral water can help to regulate the circulation of blood. Mineral water is often rich in calcium, potassium, and (of course) magnesium. All three of these nutrients help to promote healthy blood circulation. This is important as healthy circulation allows for blood and oxygen to effectively flow around the body and supports your organs to function properly. Circulation also helps to heal wounds, brain health and gives you a natural flush!

3. Mineral water promotes bone health. Mineral water is often rich in calcium, a vital nutrient for bone strength. Maintaining bone health is important to prevent brittle bones or even bone loss.

4. Mineral water aids digestion. The magnesium in mineral water draws water into the intestines which helps prevent constipation and supports regular bowel movements.

So there you have it, four reasons why you might want to consider switching up tap water for mineral water.
