Product Overview

Bioitalia’s Black Beans have a dense, hearty flavour and a creamy texture. With just 0.6g fat, 5.3g protein, 2.8mg iron and a huge 7g fibre per 100g, these are a really nutritious staple to add to any recipe. The versatile beans come ready cooked with no added salt or preservatives, so they’re ready for use as soon as you’ve drained them!

These beans are great in chilli, tacos, stews, burritos and even salads...But here at PlantX, we love using these organic black beans to make a quick, fresh dip when we have friends over.

Simply blend one drained can of these beans, a handful of cilantro leaves, a couple of garlic cloves, half a red onion, the zest and juice of 1 lime and seasonings, and you’re all set! If you’d like a spicier dip, you can always add jalapenos to this recipe, or even maple syrup for a little added sweetness. It’s the perfect high flavour, low fat snack for dipping tortilla chips, veggies or crackers in.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of packaging does Bioitalia use?

Bioitalia sells all of it’s beans in BPA(Bisphenol A)-free cans. The chemical Bisphenol A is widely used in the inner varnish of cans, but there are potential health risks related to this chemical. BPA has been linked to causing reproductive, neurological and immune system problems, as well as an increased likelihood of Alzheimer's, childhood asthma and other diseases.

Bioitalia says the move to these more expensive BPA-free cans was an easy choice, because it cares for consumers' health more than it does for profit.
