What is tamarind?

Tamarind is actually a fruit! The trees are found in Asia, Africa and other tropical climates where many people utilize the fruit for medicinal purposes. The fruits harvested from the trees are found in little pods that have a sweet and sour taste and when dried, they become super sour! This complements a range of dishes as it contains a citrus and caramel undertone.
